NELA Vets Gather to Denounce Bray-Ali Comments

by News Desk

A group of NELA veterans gathered together this morning and held a news conference at Veteran's Memorial Square in Highland Park. They met in order to denounce comments written by city council candidate Joe Bray-Ali about the US Flag. The comments were made 10 years ago but are just now coming to light on a larger scale. After suffering the damage of withdrawn endorsements in response to insensitive online comments Bray-Ali made about various ethnic and social groups, his campaign is now dealing with his comments about the Flag. “Let people burn the flag all they want,' Bray-Ali wrote in his blog in 2006, "let ’em put it in their avant-garde art videos smeared in poo, let them destroy it.”

Pro-Vegan Idiot Guerilla Paints Meat is Murder Piece at Veterans Memorial

by LA1 News

Highland Park keeps changing every day, not nearly always for the better. An electrical box near the Veterans Memorial Square in Highland Park was recently replaced, and last night, sometime after 10 p.m., it was covered in spray-painted political graffiti. While the Square's memorial has been defaced in the past, it was always the obvious work of a wayward youth. Most times, local veterans are there the next day to remove the mess. This time, the offender was clearly an adult, although not a very educated one.

Exercise Anaconda Kicks Off in Poland

from Double Eagle:

U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers with the 361st Engineer Company (Multi-Role Bridge) from Warner Robins, Ga., sharpen their skills by constructing the Improved Ribbon Bridge (IRB), June 8, on the Vistula River in Chelmno, Poland, as a part of Exercise Anakonda 2016. The IRB is a sectional floating bridge that can be used to create a full bridge or to ferry vehicles and equipment across a body of water.

Exercise Anakonda 2016 is a Polish-led, joint, multinational exercise taking place in Poland from June 7-17. This exercise involves more than 31,000 participants from more than 20 nations. Exercise Anakonda 2016 is a premier training event for U.S. Army Europe and participating nations and demonstrates that the U.S. and partner nations can effectively unite together under a unified command while training on a contemporary scenario.
